We live in a time where family no longer live upstairs, downstairs, down the street, or even in the same town. In my case, my family does not even live in the same state. So when we visit, it's an over-night stay. Nothing is more inviting to a guest than a well-made bed and a relaxing guest room to lay their head. This past summer, I hosted 48 people in my lake house (Not at the same time, of course). What do my guests love about staying with us aside from fun, good food and cocktails? The simple yet appreciated touches, especially in their guest room. I always make sure they have a clean room with crisp sheets, plenty of soft pillows, and fluffy down comforter. My special extras include fresh flowers on the bedside table, books & magazines in a corner basket. I also make sure to have bedside lighting, overhead fan, additional blankets which I hang in plain view, and even a little ring holder for jewelry and loose change and a tiny frame with the wifi info. Then finally, I love to add a basket of bottled water and Molton Brown toiletries, for "just-in-case."
